Summer Solstice & Embracing Change Through Intentional Action

Happy Summer, friends!

Yesterday, we celebrated the Summer Solstice, marking the longest day of the year and the official start of summer. I think it's no coincidence that I find myself on the cusp of a significant personal transition during this time—a time for embracing change and setting new intentions.

For those who don’t know, we relocated to Colorado in May of 2023. This move has been different from my previous ones—I've moved 13 times in the last decade, and despite having a transient childhood (aka, being used to this kinda thing), this particular transition was quite challenging. In the past, I’d dive into a new, exciting job and quickly make friends through work. This time, working remotely has made it harder to connect, often leaving me feeling isolated.

Yet, this year of solitude has been transformative. I've spent time with myself in ways I hadn't before, learning valuable lessons about who I am, what I want, and where I want my life to go. Now, as we move into a new community today, I feel a surge of excitement for this fresh start, especially on the heels of the Summer Solstice—a day synonymous with embracing change and new beginnings.

Astrologically, the Summer Solstice marks the Sun's entry into Cancer, a sign ruled by the nurturing Moon, which will continue until around July 22nd. This period encourages us to reflect on our emotional needs, our home, and our personal growth. Although the solstice was yesterday, its energy is still present, guiding us to set intentions for the future and embrace the energy of renewal.

As we journey through this time, I invite you to join me in reflecting on the last six months. Have you noticed any shifts within yourself or your life? Take a moment to tap into these feelings. Embracing change can be daunting, but it is also an opportunity for incredible growth. Here are a few journal prompts and helpful affirmations to help you move through this transitional time.
